Before the insurance effective date
Some providers offer cancellation when coverage has not begun, potentially subject to an administration fee. A separate visa-refusal clause may apply. Read the purchased policy before assuming a full refund.
If IRCC refuses the visa
Policies may ask for the official refusal notice, proof of payment, policy number and written cancellation request. The available refund and fees depend on insurer rules and prior coverage status.
If parents return home early
Partial refunds may be available on some unused coverage, often with restrictions on claims and minimum earned premium. A single claim or assistance call may change refund eligibility.
