Option 1: either of two tax years
The host and any qualifying co-signer may meet the minimum necessary income using either of the two tax years immediately before the application. This can help when income was higher in the earlier of the two years.
Option 2: combine part of the host and parent’s income
Where the host (and any qualifying co-signer) has at least 75% of the required minimum in the tax year before submission, the applicant parent’s or grandparent’s continuing income may help bridge the remaining amount. The combined income must still reach the threshold, and documents are required.
Who counts toward family size?
Income thresholds depend on household composition and the number of Super Visa applicants. IRCC provides a specific family-size calculation. Do not assume only the visiting parent or host counts—review the official table and instructions.
Income evidence
Notices of Assessment, T4/T1 records, employer letters and proof of qualifying income may be relevant depending on the selected option. Refer to IRCC’s financial-support page for the required evidence and current threshold table.
